Medicare is a federal program that helps pay for health benefits for people living in the U.S. who are either disabled or 65 and older. For people who do have Medicare and require substance abuse rehabilitation in Richmond, this program can cover certain recovery programs and treatment services. Medicare consists of different "Parts", with Parts A-D covering various forms of treatment.
Part A (Insurance for Hospital Stays) - Medicare Part A pays for inpatient substance rehabilitation, and up to 60 days in treatment without a co-pay but policy holders will have to pay a deductible. Medicare only pays for a total of 190 days of inpatient care, this applies to the person's lifetime.
Part B (Medical Insurance) ? Medicare Part B pays up to 80% of the costs associated with outpatient drug and alcohol rehab. This includes outpatient services, therapy, treatment for co-occurring disorders such as anxiety disorders or depression and medications administered by clinics. It also pays for professional intervention services.
Part C (Medicare-approved Private Insurance) Medicare Part D is an option for people who want additional health insurance aside from Medicare Parts A, B, and D. Individuals who have Part C may have more insurance benefits available to them, but out-of-pocket costs and coverage is different and may be more expensive.
Part D (Prescription Insurance) Medicare Part D covers substance abuse related medications. Including medications needed for withdrawal symptoms during detoxification and those required for maintenance therapy such as methadone or buprenorphine.
