Outpatient Methadone Buprenorphine or Vivitrol - Alcohol and Drug Rehab Centers - Belmont, MA.

One of the out-patient rehab options for clients in Belmont who are struggling with opioid abuse and addiction is called opioid maintenance therapy. Some facilities and doctors are certified to give certain meds to opioid dependent people, many that are opioid-based themselves and are addiction. With low amounts the individual does not experience being high but also doesn't have severe cravings and isn't experiencing opioid withdrawal. Methadone is the first med administered for this purpose, but there are a few more choices currently to choose from.

Methadone is an opioid and is meant to be taken at an out-patient clinic licensed to administer the drug, which is taken daily in liquid or pill form. The price of the med is approximately $150 monthly. Buprenorphine is also an opiate based med, and is a pill often taken every other day. But different from Methadone that is only be administered in structured medical centers, Buprenorphine can be and is prescribed and dispensed in doctor's offices. The price monthly of buprenorphine is about $300.00 per month for the generic of the drug. There is also a version of buprenorphine that contains naloxone, that is a drug which reverses the effects of opioids. Someone consuming this version of the drug, also known as Suboxone, would find it more difficult to get high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It too is taken daily, and is priced about $450 monthly. Naltrexone is another medication taken in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other drugs aforementioned it is an opiate blocker and is not an opiate. A person has the choice to take this medication as a monthly shot, which is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, it prevents a person from getting high from opioids, and in turn lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily shot costs in the range of $1000 to $1200 per month.
