Outpatient Methadone Buprenorphine or Vivitrol - Drug and Alcohol Treatment Programs - East Walpole, MA.

One of the outpatient rehab options for clients in East Walpole who are battling with opioid dependence and addiction is opioid maintenance therapy. Licensed centers and doctors are authorized to give certain meds to opioid dependent individuals, many of which are opioid-based also and are habit forming. In low doses however, the client does not experience being high but also does not experience severe cravings and is not experiencing opioid withdrawal. Methadone is the first drug used for this purpose, but there are a few more choices currently to select from.

Methadone is an opioid and is meant to be taken at an outpatient clinic certified to dispense the med, that is taken on a daily basis in liquid or pill form. The price of the med is about one hundred and fifty dolloars a month. Buprenorphine is also an opiate based med, and is in pill form often taken every other day. But different from Methadone that can only be dispensed in highly well-regulated clinics, Buprenorphine can be and is prescribed and dispensed in doctor's offices. The monthly cost of buprenorphine is about three hundred dollars per month for the generic version of the med. There is also a type of buprenorphine containing the drug naloxone, that is a med that blocks the effects of opioids. An individual taking this version of the drug, also known as Suboxone, would find it harder to get high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It is also taken every day, and is priced about $450 /month. Naltrexone is an additional med taken in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other medications mentioned here it is an opiate blocker and isn't an opiate. A person has the choice to take this drug as a monthly shot, which is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, the drug prevents someone from experience high feelings from opioids, and therefore lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily injection costs in the range of $1000 to $1200 monthly.
