When a person in South Walpole needs drug abuse treatment and doesn't have health insurance or the money to pay for treatment in full, the Access to Recovery Voucher is an option to consider. ATR is a federally-funded plan which makes it possible for qualified people to access treatment programs and services including inpatient programs, regular outpatient, intensive outpatient, counseling, continuing care, recovery and life coaching, skills building, vocational training, and transportation assistance. The ATR grant program allows those individuals with vouchers to purchase treatment and recovery support services for substance use disorders at the provider of their choice. To be eligible for ATR clients must meet certain criteria, including: 1) be at least 18 years of age, 2) have a history of substance use or abuse, 3) have an annual income that is less than 200% of the Federal poverty level, and 4) reside in the counties or jurisdictions that provide ATR.
People interested in the Access to Recovery Voucher can contact ATR Service Coordinators in their area. If someone's original choice of treatment or facility isn't working out, they can work with their coordinator to locate one that is and that accepts the ATR.
