Military Insurance - Alcohol and Drug Rehabilitation Programs - Frederick, MD.

The armed forces currently uses a military insurance known as Tricare to help veterans, active military members and their families obtain health benefits. There is Tricare Prime, Tricare Standard, and Tricare Extra. Tricare Standard offers benefits for retired military who are 60 or older and their qualified family members. With Tricare Standard they have access to any civilian health care provider that is payable under Tricare, but also pay yearly deductible and coinsurance, in addition to any out-of-pocket expenses. Tricare Extra is an option available to Tricare Standard beneficiaries which provides access to civilian health care providers within their provider network, with a reduced coinsurance amount. Tricare Prime is available to all active-duty members, retirees, and all eligible family members, and with this they can select a primary care physician and get referrals to health care services that offer specialty care.

By way of TRICARE, military members can obtain drug and alcohol rehabilitation services in Frederick. This includes individual and group therapy including family therapy, detoxification, and other treatment services. They will need pre-authorization for treatment and there are likely to be some limitations. Military insurance pays for both inpatient and outpatient, but stays for detoxification are limited to 7 days. An inpatient or partial hospitalization following detox will only be authorized if it is an approved treatment center, and there are time limits as to how long military members will be permitted to stay in rehab. A 3-week inpatient stay per benefit period is typically permitted. In additional to this, there are 15 family therapy sessions and 60 group therapy sessions covered per benefit period, which occur on an outpatient basis. Family therapy is covered one after the active military member has finished prior rehabilitation services such as inpatient or outpatient treatment.
