There is also a type of buprenorphine that contains the ingredient naloxone, that is a med which reverses the effects of opiates. A person taking this version of the drug, AKA Suboxone, would find it harder to get high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It too is taken every day, and is priced approximately $450 /month. Naltrexone is an additional drug used in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other medications mentioned it is an opioid blocker and is not an opiate. A person has the choice to take this medication as a monthly shot, and that is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, the drug prevents a person from getting high from opioids, and therefore lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily injection costs in the range of $1000 to $1200 a month.
