Military Insurance - Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Programs - St. Agatha, ME.

The military currently uses a military insurance known as Tricare to help veterans, active military members and their families obtain health benefits. There is Tricare Prime, Tricare Standard, and Tricare Extra. Tricare Standard provides insurance benefits for retirees of the military who are 60 or older and their eligible family members. With Tricare Standard they go to any civilian health care provider that is payable under Tricare, but also pay yearly deductible and coinsurance, in addition to any out-of-pocket expenses. Tricare Extra is an option available for Tricare Standard beneficiaries which provides access to civilian health care providers within their provider network, with a reduced coinsurance amount. Tricare Prime is available to all active-duty members, retirees, and all qualified family members, and with this they can choose a primary care physician and get referrals to health care services that offer specialty care.

Through TRICARE, members of the military can obtain drug and alcohol rehabilitation services in St. Agatha. This includes detoxification, individual and group therapy including family therapy, and other substance abuse recovery services. They will need pre-authorization for treatment and there will most likely be some limitations. Military insurance covers both inpatient and outpatient, but inpatient services for detoxification are limited to no more than 7 days. An inpatient or partial hospitalization following detoxification will only be authorized if it is an approved facility, and there are time restrictions as to how long military insurance carriers are allowed to remain in rehab. A 3-week inpatient stay per benefit period is typically permitted. Additionally, there are 15 family therapy sessions and 60 group therapy sessions covered per benefit period, which are done on an outpatient basis. Family therapy is covered one after the active military member has completed other rehabilitation services such as outpatient or inpatient treatment.
