Clients referred from the court for drug or alcohol treatment are typically referred because they are being given a chance to try their hand at rehabilitation in lieu of jail time, other charges, fines, etc. Although this is most common with first time offenders, it can occur at any point including while the defendant is being held in jail. There are various types of facilities that criminal justice clients can be referred to, and it usually all depends on which programs are available in Dorr and the type of drug or alcohol they'll need treatment for.
There are rehab facilities that work exclusively with the courts to treat this explicit type of clientele, and are typically state or federally funded or are offered at no cost or very little cost to the client. Additionally, there are also private drug and alcohol rehabilitation facilities that can be approved by the court if there is a specific type of recovery method that the client requires or wants that a different program can't provide. The defendant's attorney can present such options to the judge for permission.
