Outpatient Methadone Buprenorphine or Vivitrol - Alcohol and Drug Rehabilitation Facilities - Gilford, MI.

One of the outpatient treatment alternatives for individuals in Gilford who are battling with opioid abuse and addiction is opioid maintenance therapy. Some centers and doctors are certified to dispense certain meds to opioid addicted clients, many of which are opioid-based themselves and are addiction. With low amounts the client doesn't experience high feelings but also does not experience severe cravings and isn't experiencing opioid withdrawal. Methadone is the first medication used for this purpose, but there are alternative options currently to select from.

Methadone is an opiate and can be taken at an out-patient medical center certified to administer the med, which is taken on a daily basis in liquid or pill form. The price of the med is about one hundred and fifty dolloars a month. Buprenorphine is also an opiate based med, and is a pill often taken one day on, one day off. But unlike Methadone which can only be dispensed in well-regulated medical centers, Buprenorphine can be prescribed and dispensed in doctor's offices. The monthly cost of buprenorphine is about $300.00 per month for the generic of the medication. There is also a type of buprenorphine that contains the ingredient naloxone, that is a drug that blocks the effects of opioids. A person consuming this version of the drug, also known as Suboxone, would find it more difficult to feel high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It too is taken every day, and costs approximately $450 monthly. Naltrexone is an additional medication used in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other medications mentioned here it's an opiate blocker and isn't an opioid. There is an option to take this drug as a monthly injection, and that is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, it prevents someone from feeling high from opioids, and in turn lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily injection costs anywhere from $1000 to $1200 per month.
