Outpatient Methadone Buprenorphine or Vivitrol - Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Centers - Grand Junction, MI.

One of the out-patient rehabilitation alternatives for clients in Grand Junction who are struggling with opioid dependence and addiction is called opioid maintenance therapy. Some centers and doctors are authorized to dispense specific medications to opioid addicted people, many of which are opioid-based themselves and are addiction. In low amounts the client does not feel high and also doesn't experience severe cravings and isn't in opioid withdrawal. Methadone is the first medication administered for this reason, but there are other options to select from.

Methadone is an opioid and is meant to be taken at an outpatient clinic licensed to dispense the med, that is taken on a daily basis in liquid or pill form. The cost of the drug is about under $200 per month. Buprenorphine is also an opiate based drug, and is a pill often taken one day on, one day off. But different from Methadone which can only be dispensed in highly structured medical centers, Buprenorphine can be and is prescribed and administered in doctor's offices. The monthly cost of buprenorphine is approximately just under $300 monthly for the generic of the drug. There is also a type of buprenorphine that contains naloxone, which is a drug that blocks the effects of opioids. An individual taking this formulation, also known as Suboxone, would find it more difficult to get high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It too is taken daily, and costs approximately $450 a month. Naltrexone is another drug used in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other drugs mentioned it's an opiate blocker and is not an opiate. A person has the choice to take this medication as a monthly injection, and that is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, it prevents someone from experience being high from opioids, and in turn lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily injection costs in the range of $1000 to $1200 a month.
