The armed forces currently uses a military insurance called Tricare to help veterans, active military members and their families receive health benefits. There is Tricare Prime, Tricare Standard, and Tricare Extra. Tricare Standard offers benefits for retirees of the military who are 60 years of age or older and their eligible family members. With Tricare Standard they go to any non-military health care provider that is payable under Tricare, but also pay an annual deductible and coinsurance, along with any out-of-pocket expenses. Tricare Extra is available to Tricare Standard beneficiaries which allows access to non-military health care professionals within their provider network, with a discounted coinsurance amount. Tricare Prime is offered to all active-duty members, retirees, and all eligible family members, and with this they can select a primary doctor and obtain referrals to organizations that offer specialty care.
Through TRICARE, members of the military can receive substance abuse treatment services in Holland. This encompasses individual and group therapy including family therapy, detoxification, and other various treatment services. They will need pre-authorization for treatment and there will most likely be some restrictions. Military insurance pays for both outpatient and inpatient, but inpatient services for detoxification are restricted to 7 days. Partial hospitalization or impatient treatment following detox will only be authorized if it is a Tricare approved facility, and there are time restrictions as to how long military members are allowed to remain in rehab.
