Outpatient Methadone Buprenorphine or Vivitrol - Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Facilities - New Hudson, MI.

One of the outpatient treatment alternatives for clients in New Hudson struggling with opioid abuse and addiction is opioid maintenance therapy. Some clinics and doctors are certified to dispense specific medications to opioid addicted people, many that are opioid-based also and are addiction. With low enough doses the client does not feel high but also does not have acute cravings and isn't experiencing opioid withdrawal. Methadone is the first drug used for this reason, but there are alternative choices currently to choose from.

Methadone is an opiate and can be taken at an outpatient medical center certified to dispense the med, that is taken daily in liquid or pill form. The cost of the med is about $150 a month. Buprenorphine is also an opiate based med, and is a pill often taken every other day. But different from Methadone that can only be dispensed in highly structured clinics, Buprenorphine can be prescribed and administered in doctor's offices. The cost monthly of buprenorphine is approximately $300 a month for the generic of the med. There is also a type of buprenorphine that contains naloxone, that is a drug which blocks the effects of opioids. A person taking this formulation, also known as Suboxone, would find it more difficult to get high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It is also taken daily, and costs around $450 per month. Naltrexone is another medication taken in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other drugs mentioned here it's an opioid blocker and is not an opiate. There is an option to take this medication as a monthly shot, and that is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, the drug prevents a person from feeling high from opioids, and therefore lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily injection costs anywhere from $1000 to $1200 /month.
