Outpatient Methadone Buprenorphine or Vivitrol - Drug and Alcohol Treatment Facilities - Okemos, MI.

One of the outpatient treatment options for individuals in Okemos who are struggling with opioid abuse and addiction is opioid maintenance therapy. Licensed facilities and doctors are certified to give specific medications to opioid dependent clients, many of which are opioid-based themselves and are habit forming. With low enough doses the individual does not experience being high and also does not have acute cravings and is not experiencing opioid withdrawal. Methadone is the first drug used for this reason, but there are a few more options currently to choose from.

Methadone is an opiate and can be taken at an outpatient clinic certified to dispense the med, that is taken daily in liquid or pill form. The price of the med is approximately under $200 per month. Buprenorphine is also an opioid based med, and is in pill form often taken one day on, one day off. But different from Methadone which can only be given in structured clinics, Buprenorphine can be prescribed and dispensed in doctor's offices. The cost monthly of buprenorphine is around $300.00 per month for the generic version of the drug. There is also a version of buprenorphine that contains the ingredient naloxone, that is a med which blocks the effects of opioids. An individual taking this version of the drug, also known as Suboxone, would find it harder to get high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It is also taken daily, and is priced approximately $450 monthly. Naltrexone is another med used in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other medications mentioned here it's an opiate blocker and isn't an opioid. A person has the choice to take this medication as a monthly shot, and that is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, the drug prevents a person from feeling high from opioids, and in turn lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily injection costs anywhere from $1000 to $1200 monthly.
