Medicare is a federal program which helps pay for medical healthcare services for individuals living in the Unites States who are either disabled or 65 and older. For individuals who do have Medicare and require substance abuse recovery services in Cambridge, Medicare will cover certain rehab programs and recovery services. Medicare comes in different "Parts", with Parts A-D covering different types of treatment.
Part A (Insurance for Hospital Stays) - Medicare Part A pays for inpatient addiction treatment, and up to 60 days in treatment without a co-pay but individuals will be required to pay a deductible. Medicare only pays for a total of 190 days of inpatient care, this applies to the individual's lifetime.
Part B (Medical Insurance) ? Medicare Part B pays up to 80% of the expenses for outpatient drug and alcohol rehab. This includes outpatient services, therapy/counseling, treatment for co-occurring mental health disorders such as depression or anxiety and medications dispensed by clinics. It also pays for professional interventions.
Part C (Medicare-approved Private Insurance) Medicare Part D is an alternative for people who want additional health insurance apart from what the other parts of Medicare have to offer. Individuals who have Part C may have more options available to them, but out-of-pocket costs and coverage is different and may be more expensive.
Part D (Prescription Insurance) Medicare Part D covers substance abuse related medications. Including medications needed for withdrawal symptoms during detoxification as well as medications used for maintenance therapy such as buprenorphine or methadone.
