The military currently uses a military insurance known as Tricare to help veterans, active military members and their families obtain health benefits. There is Tricare Prime, Tricare Standard, and Tricare Extra. Tricare Standard provides insurance benefits for retirees of the military who are 60 years of age or older and their qualified family members. With Tricare Standard they receive services from any civilian health care provider that is payable under Tricare, but also pay an annual deductible and coinsurance, along with any out-of-pocket expenses. Tricare Extra is available to Tricare Standard beneficiaries which grants access to non-military health care professionals within their provider network, with a discounted coinsurance amount. Tricare Prime is offered to all active-duty members, retirees, and all qualified family members, and with this they can choose a primary care physician and get referrals to organizations that provide specialty care.
Through TRICARE, members of the military can obtain substance abuse rehabilitation services in Grand Marais. This encompasses individual and group therapy including family therapy, detoxification, and other various substance abuse recovery services. They will require pre-authorization for services and there are likely to be some limitations. Military insurance covers both inpatient and outpatient, but inpatient services for detox are restricted to 7 days.
