Conversely, American Indians and Alaska Natives are more likely to feel the need to seek treatment than other racial/ethnic groups. Nearly 50% of American Indian and Alaska Native addiction treatment admissions show up to treatment as criminal justice clients, meaning they have most likely agreed to a court ordered diversion program to receive rehab instead of jail time. So as you can see, there is an absolute need for a variety of service types to provide services for all of the various needs of this client demographic, including addiction treatment programs in native languages.
