Outpatient Methadone Buprenorphine or Vivitrol - Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Centers - Hamel, MN.

One of the out-patient rehab alternatives for clients in Hamel who are struggling with opioid dependence and addiction is called opioid maintenance therapy. Some centers and doctors are certified to administer certain medications to opioid addicted clients, many that are opioid-based also and are addictive. In low amounts however, the individual doesn't feel high and also does not have severe cravings and is not experiencing opioid withdrawal. Methadone is the first drug administered for this sole purpose, but there are alternative options currently to choose from.

Methadone is an opioid and is meant to be taken at an out-patient medical center certified to dispense the drug, which is taken daily as a pill or liquid. The price of the med is around $150 monthly. Buprenorphine is also an opioid-based med, and is a pill often taken one day on, one day off. But unlike Methadone which can only be administered in highly well-regulated medical centers, Buprenorphine can be prescribed and administered in doctor's offices. The monthly cost of buprenorphine is around just under $300 per month for the generic version of the medication. There is also a type of buprenorphine that contains the ingredient naloxone, which is a drug which blocks the effects of opioids. An individual consuming this version of the drug, AKA Suboxone, would find it more difficult to get high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It too is taken every day, and is priced about $450 per month. Naltrexone is another med taken in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other drugs mentioned here it's an opiate blocker and isn't an opioid. A person has the choice to take this drug as a monthly injection, and that is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, it prevents someone from getting high from opioids, and therefore lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily injection costs anywhere from $1000 to $1200 monthly.
