Military Insurance - Alcohol and Drug Rehab Facilities - Mankato, MN.

The military currently uses a military insurance known as Tricare to help veterans, active military members and their families obtain health benefits. There is Tricare Prime, Tricare Standard, and Tricare Extra. Tricare Standard provides insurance benefits for retirees of the military who are 60 years of age or older and their eligible family members. With Tricare Standard they have access to any civilian health care provider that is payable under Tricare, but also pay an annual deductible and coinsurance, as well as any out-of-pocket expenses. Tricare Extra is available for Tricare Standard beneficiaries which provides access to civilian health care providers within their provider network, with a reduced coinsurance amount. Tricare Prime is offered to all active-duty members, retirees, and all qualified family members, and with this they can choose a primary care physician and obtain referrals to organizations that offer specialty care.

Through TRICARE, military members can acquire drug and alcohol treatment services in Mankato. This includes detoxification, individual and group therapy including family therapy, and other various substance abuse recovery services. They will require pre-authorization for treatment and there will most likely be some restrictions. Military insurance pays for both inpatient and outpatient, but stays for detox are restricted to no more than 7 days. Partial hospitalization or impatient treatment following detox will only be authorized if it is an approved facility, and there are time limits as to how long military members will be allowed to stay in treatment. A 3-week inpatient stay per benefit period is typically permitted. In additional to this, there are 60 group therapy sessions and 15 family therapy sessions covered per benefit period, which take place on an outpatient basis. Family therapy is covered one after the active military member has completed other primary rehabilitation services such as outpatient or inpatient treatment.
