Outpatient Methadone Buprenorphine or Vivitrol - Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Facilities - Ogema, MN.

One of the out-patient treatment options for people in Ogema who are battling with opioid dependence and addiction is opioid maintenance therapy. Some centers and doctors are authorized to administer certain medications to opioid addicted clients, many that are opioid-based also and are habit forming. With low doses however, the client does not feel high but also does not have severe cravings and is not in opioid withdrawal. Methadone is the first medication used for this sole purpose, but there are other options to pick from.

Methadone is an opiate and can be taken at an out-patient clinic licensed to dispense the med, which is taken daily as a pill or liquid. The price of the med is about $150 a month. Buprenorphine is also an opiate based med, and is a pill often taken one day on, one day off. But unlike Methadone which is only be dispensed in well-regulated clinics, Buprenorphine can be prescribed and dispensed in doctor's offices. The monthly cost of buprenorphine is about just under $300 per month for the generic version of the med. There is also a version of buprenorphine that contains naloxone, that is a med which blocks the effects of opioids. A person taking this formulation, AKA Suboxone, would find it more difficult to feel high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It is also taken on a daily basis, and costs about $450 a month. Naltrexone is another med taken in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other medications mentioned here it's an opioid blocker and is not an opioid. There is an option to take this medication as a monthly shot, which is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, it prevents someone from feeling high from opioids, and therefore lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily injection costs in the range of $1000 to $1200 per month.
