There are both inpatient and outpatient drug rehab, but there are some types of outpatient drug and alcohol rehab in Oregon from which to choose. Regular outpatient care is not invasive and clients can usually go to therapy and counseling a few times a week. Comprehensive outpatient programs provide therapy and counseling similar to regular outpatient, but on a more accelerated schedule that also accommodates family and work life.
An outpatient drug rehab type called Day Treatment or Partial Hospitalization is the most comprehensive form of outpatient treatment available. Clients can go home or to a sober living facility at the end of each day, but will spend most of the day involved in outpatient rehab activities. Day treatment and partial hospitalization outpatient drug and alcohol treatment is perfect for people who have newly gone through an inpatient program, but still need to keep a robust support system while becoming more comfortable with sober living. These rehabs also tend to offer a broader array of care that normal outpatient may not provide, including medication management, dual diagnosis treatment, and alternative therapies.
It isn't uncommon for clients in outpatient alcohol or drug rehab or following treatment in outpatient drug rehab to relapse. In these cases inpatient treatment would ideally be the next logical step.
