Outpatient Methadone Buprenorphine or Vivitrol - Alcohol and Drug Rehab Programs - Falcon, MS.

One of the outpatient rehabilitation alternatives for people in Falcon who are struggling with opioid dependence and addiction is opioid maintenance therapy. Some centers and doctors are authorized to administer certain medications to opioid addicted clients, many of which are opioids themselves and are addictive. With low enough amounts the client does not feel high but also doesn't have severe cravings and isn't experiencing opioid withdrawal. Methadone is the first medication administered for this reason, but there are other choices currently to select from.

Methadone is an opioid and can be taken at an out-patient clinic licensed to administer the drug, which is taken on a daily basis in liquid or pill form. The price of the drug is about $150 a month. Buprenorphine is also an opioid based med, and is a pill often taken every other day. But different from Methadone which is only be given in highly structured medical centers, Buprenorphine can be prescribed and dispensed in doctor's offices. The monthly cost of buprenorphine is about three hundred dollars a month for the generic version of the medication. There is also a version of buprenorphine that contains the ingredient naloxone, that is a drug which blocks the effects of opiates. Someone consuming this formulation, also known as Suboxone, would find it more difficult to get high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It too is taken every day, and is priced approximately $450 a month. Naltrexone is another med taken in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other medications mentioned here it's an opiate blocker and isn't an opiate. There is an option to take this drug as a monthly injection, and that is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, the drug prevents someone from getting high from opioids, and therefore lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily injection costs anywhere from $1000 to $1200 monthly.
