Outpatient Methadone Buprenorphine or Vivitrol - Alcohol and Drug Rehabilitation Facilities - Walls, MS.

One of the out-patient treatment options for clients in Walls struggling with opioid abuse and addiction is called opioid maintenance therapy. Some centers and doctors are authorized to dispense certain meds to opioid addicted clients, many that are opioid-based also and are addiction. With low enough amounts the user doesn't feel high and also doesn't have severe cravings and is not in opioid withdrawal. Methadone is the first med used for this sole purpose, but there are a few more choices to select from.

Methadone is an opiate and is meant to be taken at an outpatient medical center licensed to administer the drug, that is taken daily in liquid or pill form. The price of the drug is approximately $150 per month. Buprenorphine is also an opioid based drug, and is a pill often taken one day on, one day off. But different from Methadone which can only be dispensed in highly well-regulated medical centers, Buprenorphine can be prescribed and dispensed in doctor's offices. The monthly cost of buprenorphine is around just under $300 per month for the generic of the medication. There is also a version of buprenorphine that contains naloxone, that is a drug that reverses the effects of opioids. Someone taking this formulation, AKA Suboxone, would find it harder to get high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It too is taken every day, and is priced around $450 a month. Naltrexone is another medication taken in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other drugs mentioned here it's an opioid blocker and isn't an opiate. A person has the choice to take this drug as a monthly shot, which is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, it prevents a person from feeling high from opioids, and in turn lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily injection costs in the range of $1000 to $1200 per month.
