The armed forces currently uses a military insurance called Tricare to help veterans, active military members and their families obtain health benefits. There is Tricare Prime, Tricare Standard, and Tricare Extra. Tricare Standard offers insurance benefits for retirees of the military who are 60 or older and their eligible family members. With Tricare Standard they receive services from any civilian health care provider that is payable under Tricare, but also pay an annual deductible and coinsurance, along with any out-of-pocket expenses. Tricare Extra is available to Tricare Standard beneficiaries which allows access to civilian health care providers within their provider network, with a discounted coinsurance amount. Tricare Prime is offered to all active-duty members, retirees, and all qualified family members, and with this they can pick a primary doctor and get referrals to health care services that offer specialty care.
Through TRICARE, military members can receive substance abuse rehabilitation services in Winona. This includes individual and group therapy including family therapy, detoxification, and other substance abuse recovery services. They will require pre-authorization for services and there are likely to be some limitations. Military insurance covers both outpatient and inpatient, but inpatient services for detoxification are limited to 7 days.
