Naltrexone is an additional medication taken in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other medications aforementioned it is an opioid blocker and isn't an opiate. There is an option to take this medication as a monthly injection, and that is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, it prevents a person from experience being high from opioids, and in turn lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily shot costs in the range of $1000 to $1200 monthly.
