The armed forces currently uses a military insurance known as Tricare to help veterans, active military members and their families receive health benefits. There is Tricare Prime, Tricare Standard, and Tricare Extra. Tricare Standard provides benefits for retirees of the military who are 60 or older and their eligible family members. With Tricare Standard they have access to any civilian health care provider that is payable under Tricare, but also pay yearly deductible and coinsurance, as well as any out-of-pocket expenses. Tricare Extra is available to Tricare Standard beneficiaries which grants access to non-military health care professionals within their provider network, with a discounted coinsurance amount. Tricare Prime is available to all active-duty members, retirees, and all eligible family members, and with this they can select a primary doctor and get referrals to organizations that offer specialty care.

Through TRICARE, military members can obtain drug and alcohol treatment services in Ethridge. This includes detoxification, individual and group therapy including family therapy, and other various rehabilitation services. Military insurance pays for both outpatient and inpatient, but inpatient services for detox are limited to no more than 7 days.
