Outpatient Methadone Buprenorphine or Vivitrol - Alcohol and Drug Treatment Facilities - Fort Peck, MT.

One of the out-patient rehab options for clients in Fort Peck struggling with opioid dependence and addiction is opioid maintenance therapy. Licensed clinics and doctors are certified to dispense specific medications to opioid dependent clients, many of which are opioid-based themselves and are addiction. With low enough doses however, the individual does not feel high and also does not experience severe cravings and is not in opioid withdrawal. Methadone is the first drug administered for this purpose, but there are a few more options currently to choose from.

Methadone is an opiate and is meant to be taken at an outpatient medical center licensed to dispense the med, that is taken on a daily basis in liquid or pill form. The price of the med is about one hundred and fifty dolloars a month. Buprenorphine is also an opioid-based med, and is in pill form often taken every other day. But unlike Methadone which is only be administered in highly structured clinics, Buprenorphine can be and is prescribed and administered in doctor's offices. The price monthly of buprenorphine is approximately $300 a month for the generic version of the medication. There is also a type of buprenorphine that contains the ingredient naloxone, that is a drug that blocks the effects of opiates. A person consuming this version of the drug, also known as Suboxone, would find it harder to get high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It is also taken every day, and costs around $450 a month. Naltrexone is another drug taken in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other medications mentioned it's an opioid blocker and isn't an opiate. There is an option to take this drug as a monthly shot, and that is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, it prevents a person from experience being high from opioids, and therefore lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily injection costs anywhere from $1000 to $1200 /month.
