Vivitrol Used in Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Facilities - Jordan, MT.

Vivitrol is a drug mainly administered to prevent drug dependency and relapse, and is administered specifically for alcohol and opioid drugs such as heroin and prescription pain killers. Vivitrol is an extended-release type of the drug Naltrexone, that one can get through injection once a month. It is not habit forming, and is what is known as an antagonist. When someone injects Vivitrol, it blocks the receptors that would usually be triggered by opioids or alcohol, so when someone drinks alcohol or tries to get high on opioids they basically can't get high or drunk.

There are certain precautions that need to be taken before an individual is administered Vivitrol. First off, a person who with the intent to begin Vivitrol must have been off of opioids for at least seven to ten days. This includes people who are participating in opioid maintenance therapy and are being given medications like Methadone or Buprenorphine. For a heroin abuser or a person who has been on Methadone for several years, quitting quickly is brutal, but withdrawal is something they will have to endure for at least 7 days in order to start Vivitrol.

These drugs must be used in conjunction with a rehab program in Jordan that also offers individual therapy, group therapy and medical supervision. Speak with your therapist or doctor in regards to how pharmacological aids can help you build the sober life you want.
