There is also a version of buprenorphine containing the drug naloxone, which is a med which blocks the effects of opiates. An individual consuming this version of the drug, AKA Suboxone, would find it harder to get high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It is also taken daily, and costs around $450 a month. Naltrexone is another med used in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other medications mentioned here it's an opioid blocker and isn't an opioid. There is an option to take this drug as a monthly shot, and that is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, it prevents a person from getting high from opioids, and therefore lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily injection costs in the range of $1000 to $1200 per month.
