Naltrexone is another med taken in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other medications aforementioned it is an opiate blocker and isn't an opiate. There is an option to take this medication as a monthly shot, and that is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, it prevents a person from experience being high from opioids, and therefore lowers the risk associated with relapse.
