Naltrexone is another medication used in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other medications mentioned it is an opioid blocker and isn't an opiate. There is an option to take this medication as a monthly injection, and that is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, the drug prevents a person from experience high feelings from opioids, and therefore lowers the risk associated with relapse.
