DWI Clients - Alcohol and Drug Treatment Programs - Michigan, ND.

DWI clients in rehab need specific requirements met to fulfill the conditions of their court sentencing. Rehab programs which help satisfy these court requirements and terms, which are usually more lenient than regular sentencing such as heavy fines and jail time, are available in Michigan to deliver educational services, therapy, and additional assessment for clients with serious substance abuse problems.

Drug and Alcohol Education is a primary tool used at rehab programs treating DWI clients. There are a few different levels of alcohol education classes which can differ by state. Level I education classes usually include 12 hours of education about the effects and dangers of drugs and/or alcohol. This is the what a person with a single offense or someone under 21 will often be required to do. Level II DWI classes would consist of both substance abuse education and group therapy in a program which is approved by the courts. The duration the individual will need to remain in therapy depends upon certain considerations, which can be, for example, how many DWI's the person has had, and the seriousness of the offense. Most often clients will be required to take the Level II DWI classes and therapy except for when their blood-alcohol content level was extremely low when they were stopped and there weren't any other serious charges when the person was arrested.
