Outpatient Methadone Buprenorphine or Vivitrol - Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Centers - Oberon, ND.

One of the out-patient treatment alternatives for individuals in Oberon who are struggling with opioid abuse and addiction is opioid maintenance therapy. Licensed facilities and doctors are authorized to give certain meds to opioid dependent people, many that are opioid-based themselves and are addiction. In low amounts however, the individual does not experience high feelings but also doesn't experience acute cravings and is not in opioid withdrawal. Methadone is the first drug tried for this sole purpose, but there are a few more options currently to select from.

Methadone is an opioid and is meant to be taken at an outpatient medical center licensed to dispense the med, that is taken on a daily basis in liquid or pill form. The cost of the med is about one hundred and fifty dolloars a month. Buprenorphine is also an opioid-based med, and is a pill often taken every other day. But different from Methadone that can only be administered in highly structured medical centers, Buprenorphine can be prescribed and dispensed in doctor's offices. The price monthly of buprenorphine is around just under $300 per month for the generic version of the med. There is also a type of buprenorphine that contains the ingredient naloxone, that is a med that reverses the effects of opioids. Someone taking this version of the drug, also known as Suboxone, would find it harder to get high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It too is taken every day, and costs approximately $450 per month. Naltrexone is an additional med taken in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other drugs mentioned it is an opiate blocker and isn't an opiate. There is an option to take this drug as a monthly shot, which is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, the drug prevents an individual from experience high feelings from opioids, and in turn lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily injection costs anywhere from $1000 to $1200 a month.
