There is also a type of buprenorphine that contains the ingredient naloxone, that is a med which blocks the effects of opioids. A person taking this version of the drug, also known as Suboxone, would find it harder to get high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It too is taken on a daily basis, and is priced around $450 a month. Naltrexone is another med taken in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other medications aforementioned it's an opioid blocker and is not an opiate. A person has the choice to take this medication as a monthly injection, which is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, the drug prevents a person from getting high from opioids, and therefore lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily shot costs in the range of $1000 to $1200 monthly.
