Naltrexone is an additional med taken in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other medications aforementioned it's an opiate blocker and is not an opiate. There is an option to take this medication as a monthly shot, and that is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, it prevents a person from experience high feelings from opioids, and in turn lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily shot costs in the range of $1000 to $1200 per month.
