There is also a type of buprenorphine that contains the ingredient naloxone, which is a drug which blocks the effects of opioids. Naltrexone is an additional medication used in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other medications mentioned it's an opiate blocker and isn't an opiate. There is an option to take this drug as a monthly injection, and that is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, it prevents a person from feeling high from opioids, and therefore lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily shot costs anywhere from $1000 to $1200 per month.
