There is also a type of buprenorphine that contains naloxone, which is a med which reverses the effects of opiates. An individual taking this version of the drug, AKA Suboxone, would find it more difficult to feel high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It too is taken daily, and costs about $450 per month. Naltrexone is another drug taken in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other medications aforementioned it's an opiate blocker and is not an opioid. There is an option to take this drug as a monthly shot, and that is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, the drug prevents a person from experience being high from opioids, and therefore lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily shot costs in the range of $1000 to $1200 monthly.
