Outpatient Methadone Buprenorphine or Vivitrol - Drug and Alcohol Treatment Facilities - Johnson, NE.

One of the out-patient rehab options for clients in Johnson who are battling with opioid dependence and addiction is called opioid maintenance therapy. Licensed facilities and doctors are authorized to administer certain meds to opioid dependent people, many of which are opioids also and are addictive. In low doses the client does not experience being high and also doesn't have acute cravings and is not in opioid withdrawal. Methadone is the first med used for this purpose, but there are a few more options to pick from.

Methadone is an opiate and is meant to be taken at an outpatient clinic certified to administer the drug, that is taken on a daily basis in liquid or pill form. The price of the med is about $150 a month. Buprenorphine is also an opioid-based med, and is a pill often taken every other day. But unlike Methadone that can only be given in well-regulated clinics, Buprenorphine can be prescribed and administered in doctor's offices. The price monthly of buprenorphine is about $300 a month for the generic of the med. There is also a version of buprenorphine that contains the ingredient naloxone, which is a med that blocks the effects of opiates. A person taking this version of the drug, also known as Suboxone, would find it harder to get high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It too is taken every day, and is priced about $450 per month. Naltrexone is another medication taken in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other drugs aforementioned it's an opiate blocker and is not an opioid. There is an option to take this medication as a monthly shot, and that is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, the drug prevents someone from experience high feelings from opioids, and in turn lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily injection costs in the range of $1000 to $1200 per month.
