Outpatient Methadone Buprenorphine or Vivitrol - Alcohol and Drug Treatment Facilities - La Vista, NE.

One of the outpatient rehab options for individuals in La Vista who are battling with opioid dependence and addiction is opioid maintenance therapy. Some centers and doctors are authorized to give certain medications to opioid addicted people, many of which are opioid-based themselves and are addiction. With low amounts however, the client doesn't feel high but also doesn't have intense cravings and is not in opioid withdrawal. Methadone is the first medication administered for this reason, but there are alternative options to choose from.

Methadone is an opiate and is meant to be taken at an outpatient clinic certified to administer the drug, that is taken on a daily basis as a pill or liquid. The price of the drug is about $150 a month. Buprenorphine is also an opiate based drug, and is in pill form often taken every other day. But unlike Methadone which is only be given in highly well-regulated clinics, Buprenorphine can be prescribed and dispensed in doctor's offices. The price monthly of buprenorphine is about three hundred dollars /month for the generic version of the medication. There is also a type of buprenorphine containing the drug naloxone, which is a drug which reverses the effects of opiates. Someone taking this formulation, AKA Suboxone, would find it more difficult to feel high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It too is taken daily, and costs around $450 a month. Naltrexone is another drug used in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other drugs aforementioned it is an opiate blocker and isn't an opiate. There is an option to take this drug as a monthly shot, and that is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, the drug prevents someone from feeling high from opioids, and in turn lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily injection costs anywhere from $1000 to $1200 monthly.
