The military currently uses a military insurance called Tricare to help veterans, active military members and their families receive health benefits. There is Tricare Prime, Tricare Standard, and Tricare Extra. Tricare Standard offers insurance benefits for retirees of the military who are 60 or older and their qualified family members. With Tricare Standard they have access to any civilian health care provider that is payable under Tricare, but also pay yearly deductible and coinsurance, along with any out-of-pocket expenses. Tricare Extra is available for Tricare Standard beneficiaries which provides access to civilian health care providers within their provider network, with a discounted coinsurance amount. Tricare Prime is available to all active-duty members, retirees, and all eligible family members, and with this they can select a primary doctor and obtain referrals to health care services that provide specialty care.
Through TRICARE, military members can acquire drug and alcohol rehabilitation services in Scottsbluff. This includes detoxification, individual and group therapy including family therapy, and other various recovery services. They will require pre-authorization for treatment and there are likely to be some restrictions. Military insurance covers both outpatient and inpatient, but stays for detox are restricted to no more than 7 days. Partial hospitalization or impatient treatment following detox will only be authorized if it is an approved facility, and there are time restrictions as to how long military members will be allowed to stay in treatment. A 3-week inpatient stay per benefit period is usually allowed.
