Naltrexone is another drug taken in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other drugs mentioned it is an opioid blocker and is not an opioid. A person has the choice to take this drug as a monthly injection, which is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, it prevents someone from getting high from opioids, and therefore lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily shot costs anywhere from $1000 to $1200 per month.
