Outpatient Methadone Buprenorphine or Vivitrol - Alcohol and Drug Treatment Programs - Lyme, NH.

One of the outpatient rehabilitation alternatives for individuals in Lyme battling with opioid dependence and addiction is called opioid maintenance therapy. Some facilities and doctors are certified to dispense certain meds to opioid dependent individuals, many of which are opioids also and are addiction. In low amounts the client does not feel high and also does not have acute cravings and isn't in opioid withdrawal. Methadone is the first drug used for this sole purpose, but there are alternative options to choose from.

Methadone is an opioid and can be taken at an out-patient clinic licensed to dispense the drug, that is taken daily as a pill or liquid. The price of the drug is about under $200 per month. Buprenorphine is also an opioid based drug, and is in pill form often taken one day on, one day off. But unlike Methadone that can only be dispensed in highly well-regulated clinics, Buprenorphine can be and is prescribed and dispensed in doctor's offices. The price monthly of buprenorphine is approximately $300 monthly for the generic version of the drug. There is also a type of buprenorphine that contains naloxone, which is a med that reverses the effects of opiates. A person consuming this version of the drug, AKA Suboxone, would find it more difficult to feel high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It too is taken daily, and costs approximately $450 monthly. Naltrexone is an additional medication used in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other medications mentioned here it's an opioid blocker and isn't an opiate. There is an option to take this medication as a monthly shot, which is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, the drug prevents an individual from getting high from opioids, and in turn lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily injection costs in the range of $1000 to $1200 per month.
