The armed forces currently uses a military insurance called Tricare to help veterans, active military members and their families receive health benefits. There is Tricare Prime, Tricare Standard, and Tricare Extra. Tricare Standard provides insurance benefits for retirees of the military who are 60 years of age or older and their eligible family members. With Tricare Standard they go to any non-military health care provider that is payable under Tricare, but also pay yearly deductible and coinsurance, in addition to any out-of-pocket expenses. Tricare Extra is available to Tricare Standard beneficiaries which allows access to civilian health care professionals within their provider network, with a reduced coinsurance amount. Tricare Prime is available to all active-duty members, retirees, and all eligible family members, and with this they can select a primary doctor and get referrals to health care services that offer specialty care.
By way of TRICARE, members of the military can acquire drug and alcohol treatment services in West Lebanon. This includes detoxification, individual and group therapy including family therapy, and other various rehabilitation services. They will require pre-authorization for services and there will most likely be some limitations. Military insurance pays for both outpatient and inpatient, but inpatient services for detoxification are limited to 7 days. An inpatient or partial hospitalization following detoxification will only be authorized if it is a Tricare approved treatment center, and there are time restrictions as to how long military insurance carriers will be permitted to remain in treatment.
