Naltrexone is an additional medication taken in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other medications mentioned here it is an opioid blocker and isn't an opioid. There is an option to take this drug as a monthly shot, and that is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, it prevents an individual from feeling high from opioids, and therefore lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily injection costs anywhere from $1000 to $1200 a month.
