Medicare is a federal health insurance program which helps pay for health benefits for people living in the U.S. who are either disabled or 65 years of age or older. People who have Part C can have more insurance benefits available to them, but out-of-pocket costs and coverage is different and may be more expensive.

Part D (Prescription Insurance) Medicare Part D pays for substance abuse related medications. Including medications used for withdrawal symptoms during detoxification and those used for maintenance therapy such as buprenorphine or methadone.
