The military currently uses a military insurance known as Tricare to help veterans, active military members and their families obtain health benefits. There is Tricare Prime, Tricare Standard, and Tricare Extra. Tricare Standard offers insurance benefits for retirees of the military who are 60 years of age or older and their eligible family members. With Tricare Standard they receive services from any non-military health care provider that is payable under Tricare, but also pay yearly deductible and coinsurance, along with any out-of-pocket expenses. Tricare Extra is available to Tricare Standard beneficiaries which grants access to civilian health care providers within their provider network, with a reduced coinsurance amount. Tricare Prime is offered to all active-duty members, retirees, and all qualified family members, and with this they can select a primary care physician and obtain referrals to health care services that offer specialty care.
Through TRICARE, military members can acquire drug and alcohol rehabilitation services in Egg Harbor Township. This includes individual and group therapy including family therapy, detoxification, and other various rehab services. They will require pre-authorization for services and there are likely to be some restrictions. Military insurance covers both inpatient and outpatient, but inpatient services for detox are restricted to no more than 7 days. Partial hospitalization or impatient treatment following detox will only be authorized if it is an approved treatment center, and there are time restrictions as to how long military insurance carriers will be allowed to stay in treatment. A 3-week inpatient stay per benefit period is commonly permitted.
