Medicare is a federal program that helps pay for health care for people living in the U.S. who are either disabled or 65 years of age or older. Medicare consists of different "Parts", with Parts A-D covering certain types of medical care.

People who have Part C may have more options available to them, but out-of-pocket costs and coverage is different and may be more expensive.

Part D (Prescription Insurance) Medicare Part D covers substance abuse related medications. Including medications used for drug and alcohol withdrawal and those required for maintenance therapy such as methadone or buprenorphine.
