It too is taken daily, and costs approximately $450 a month. Naltrexone is another medication used in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other medications mentioned here it's an opioid blocker and is not an opiate. A person has the choice to take this medication as a monthly injection, which is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, the drug prevents a person from feeling high from opioids, and therefore lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily shot costs in the range of $1000 to $1200 a month.
