The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department responsible for efforts to promote the behavioral health of the United States. One of its responsibilities is the oversight of opioid rehabilitation facilities, which are centers which offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are experiencing opioid dependency and addiction. Medications administered are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which stop withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid addicted people. Once an opioid rehabilitation facility is certified, they need to get re-certified every year or every three years depending on the kind of accreditation it has been given.
