SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Rehab Programs - Bellmore, NY.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department responsible for efforts to promote the behavioral health of the U.S.. One of its obligations is the oversight of opioid rehab programs, which are centers which offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are in the midst of opioid dependency and addiction. Medications given are drugs like methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs that help withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent people. SAMSHA certified opioid treatment centers in Bellmore are programs which are legally permitted to give out the medicines used in MAT being they remain certified and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also get ancillary benefits aside from medication such as psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid treatment center can receive basic certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehab facilities authorized by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. In addition, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA office. Once an opioid rehabilitation center is approved to operate, it must be re-certified every year or every three years contingent upon the type of certification that was given.
