SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Rehab Centers - Berne, NY.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency responsible for efforts to promote the mental health of the United States. One of its duties is the supervision of opioid rehab facilities, which are programs who offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are in the midst of opioid dependency and addiction. Medications given are drugs such as buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs which stop withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent clients. SAMSHA certified opioid rehabilitation centers in Berne are programs that are officially permitted to distribute the medications used in MAT as long as they remain certified and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT individuals must also receive ancillary services in addition to medicine such as psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid rehab center can receive initial approval documentation while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehab facilities accredited by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. Likewise, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA branch. Once an opioid rehab facility is approved to operate, they need to get re-certified each year or every 3 years depending on the kind of certification it has been granted.
